In accordance with the federal Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008 [34 CFR 668.41], as amended, and federal laws and regulations, Southside Virginia Community College distributes this annual notice to enrolled students, and others as applicable, announcing the availability of certain information considered by law to be “Consumer Information.” This information, included in the links at the Consumer Information website, primarily concerns the institution, its financial aid options, gainful employment data, and other institutional policies and programs, and includes a brief description and the electronic address or other locations where the information can be found. This notice may list other important disclosures, with links to where to obtain the information.

Southside Virginia Community College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate degrees. Program Licensure Disclosures

Before enrolling in a program at SVCC leading to external licensure or certification, we recommend that a student contact the state board or agency of the program in the state they wish to practice for the most complete and up-to-date information about licensure and certification. In addition to educational requirements, an agency or board may require additional criteria to be met for licensure. Complaint and Grievance Procedures

Students should be aware that, should they have complaints about their academic program or financial aid, SVCC has a complaint procedure in the Student Handbook. To the extent possible, students should seek a resolution of such matters through the institution’s complaint procedure before involving others.

State of Virginia

State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) provides students with the option of filing a formal complaint about a condition or incident involving postsecondary schools operating in Virginia. After a student has exhausted all avenues provided by SVCC, the student can submit a Student Complaint form to SCHEV. More information.

Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)

Allegations regarding noncompliance with accreditation standards, policies, and procedures may be made to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges at 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, GA 30033-4097. The SACSCOC’s complaint policy, procedure and complaint form may be found on their website.

Vaccination Policy

SVCC does not have any vaccination requirements for admission. However, some academic programs, particularly allied health programs, may require vaccinations for participation in laboratories and clinicals.

Voter Registration

As required by federal regulation [34 CFR 668.41], students may obtain voter registration information and relevant forms from the Office of Student Services located in the Student Services Center in Alberta and Keysville.
